The female gaze is frequently discussed within contemporary painting, regarded as a reaction to classical nude paintings which were predominantly painted by male artists, for male viewers.
I do not paint female nudes in order to reclaim the gaze (as a female artist). I paint nudes (female or male) as a celebration of the beauty of the nude body and to convey the unspoken power of erotic, sensual magnetism and the emotions it ignites within the viewer.
